Hershey Chocolates is now entering the ready-to-eat popcorn arena. The chocolate company has purchased Amplify Snack Brands, Inc., the owners of SkinnyPop.
Just so happens that Amplify Snack Brands is the second largest manufacturer in the popcorn ready-to-eat world. It has a market share of 17.5% of the ready-to-eat popcorn snacks. That means Hershey’s has entered the popcorn ready-to-eat-snacks in a big way.
One advantage for consumers, like you and me, is that ready-to-eat popcorn snack brands like SkinnyPop will now be found in more stores.
In addition to Amplify, Hershey’s also owns Krave (purchased in 2015) and barkTHINS (purchased in 2016).
Hershey believes the nutritious ready-to-eat popcorn snacks will grow in popularity over the coming years. Go popcorn snacks!
